The Irish Government has launched the new Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme for eligible Irish-owned retail enterprises.

The scheme is now live and inviting applications from retailers who had a physical store and employed ten or more people on or before 29 February. They should also have a pre-existing online presence.

Enterprise Ireland is operating and administering the new scheme through the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation. The $2m fund will help retailers to enhance digital capability in response to Covid-19.

The financial support will allow them to create improved competitive online offerings to meet local and international consumer demand.

It can also be used to finance fees for service providers, creation and deployment of a digital strategy, and more.

Selected applicants will receive funding of up to 80% of eligible project costs, ranging from €10,000 to €40,000.

The new fund is built upon two previous successful calls of the pilot Online Retail Scheme.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys said: “By introducing the Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme, I want to support indigenous Irish retailers to sustain their business through the crisis and into the future.

“It is one of two online trading schemes that has received additional funding to support firms in this difficult period.

“Online trading will stand to your company for years to come. It will boost your revenue and make your business more resilient, and I would strongly encourage all retailers not already trading online to get online.”
