Retail Insight Network Excellence Awards and Rankings 2022 – The Verdict

IKEA is a Swedish multinational conglomerate that is ranked for Environmental and Research and Development in the 2022 Retail Insight Network Excellence Rankings.

Recently, the multinational has partnered up with Second Closet to electrify its last-mile delivery service in Canada using branded electric delivery trucks. With this partnership the retailer is looking well on its way to hitting its own 2025 zero-emission targets.

Customers living near the retailer’s North American headquarters in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania were able to exchange their used, but still functional IKEA furniture in exchange for store credit. The Swedish retailer has previously launched similar schemes in the UK and Singapore.

Alongside staying on track with its own ambitious climate change goals, the company has also become a founding member of a climate change alliance called The Race to Zero Breakthroughs: Retail Campaign. The initiative brings together companies like H&M, IKEA, Kingfisher and Walmart in an effort to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
