The value marked an increase of 103.7% over the previous month and a rise of 73.8% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $1.26bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $1.63bn. At the country level, Singapore topped the list in terms of deal value at $1.47bn.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for consumer industry venture financing deals globally, followed by Asia-Pacific and then Europe.

In 2019, as of the end of March 2019, consumer venture financing deals worth $4.42bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 59.5% year on year.

The top announced consumer industry venture financing deal tracked by GlobalData in March 2019 was Hyundai Motor Group, Microsoft, OppenheimerFunds, Ping An Capital, Booking Holdings, SoftBank Vision Fund, Toyota Motor and Yamaha Motor’s $1.46bn venture financing of GrabTaxi Holdings.

In second place was the $100m venture financing of Glossier by Forerunner Ventures, Index Ventures, Institutional Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital Operations, Spark Capital, Thrive Capital and Tiger Global Management and in third place was Institutional Venture Partners, New Enterprise Associates, Norwest Venture Partners and Target’s $100m venture financing of Casper Sleep.

The $76m venture financing of 1stdibs.Com by Allen & Co of Florida, Foxhaven Asset Management, Groupe Artemis, Michael Zeisser, Sofina and T. Rowe Price Associates and Matrix Partners India and Tiger Global Management’s venture financing of Ola Electric Mobility for $56.33m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
