Total consumer industry M&A deals in June 2019 worth $19.24bn were announced in the US, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 185.3% over the previous month and a rise of 191.5% when compared with the last 12-month average of $6.6bn.

The US held a 73.3% share of the global consumer industry M&A deal value that totalled $26.24bn in June 2019.

In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 89 deals during June 2019, marking a decrease of 1.1% over the previous month and a drop of 5.3% over the 12-month average.

The top five consumer industry M&A deals accounted for 96.9% of the overall value during June 2019.

The combined value of the top five consumer industry M&A deals stood at $18.64bn, against the overall value of $19.24bn recorded for the month. The top announced consumer industry M&A deal tracked by GlobalData in June 2019 was Eldorado Resorts’ $17.3bn acquisition of Caesars Entertainment.

In second place was the $621m acquisition of Prinova Group by Nagase America and in third place was Ashford’s $275m asset transaction with Remington Holdings.

The $261m asset transaction with Schlitterbahn Waterparks by Cedar Fair and Rocco B. Commisso’s acquisition of The New York Cosmos for $180m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

This analysis considers only announced and completed deals from the GlobalData financial deals database and excludes all terminated and rumoured deals. Country and industry are defined according to the headquarters and dominant industry of the target firm. The term ‘acquisition’ refers to both completed deals and those in the bidding stage.
