The industry’s overall hiring increased by 13.44% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.23% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.79% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.46% in August 2022, registering an 8.7% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 24.29% share, a decrease of 8.51% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.56%, registering a 25% decline from July 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.34%, down 18.75% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 7.19% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Woolworths Group posted 54 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 8% over the previous month, followed by Wesfarmers with 35 jobs and a 94.44% growth. Coles Group with 34 IT jobs and Amazon with 25 jobs, recorded a 3.03% growth and a 57.63% decrease, respectively, while RedBubble recorded a flat growth with 7 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.45%, down by 0.76% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.82% share, registered a decline of 24.32% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.73% share, down 42.42% over July 2022.
