The US’s retail industry registered a 2.2% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.84% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.74% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.59% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 81.03% in October 2021, registering a 3.92% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 7.02% share, a decrease of 3.99% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.1%, registering a 6.74% decline from September 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.15%, down 8.48% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 0.32% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
Amazon posted 4,162 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 11.49% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 348 jobs and a 9.84% drop. CVS Health with 188 IT jobs and Chewy with 174 jobs, recorded a 3.09% decline and a 65.88% decrease, respectively, while Lowe’s Companies recorded a decline of 22.76% with 112 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 47.55%, down by 4.3% from September 2021. Entry Level positions with a 30.79% share, registered a decline of 0.4% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 21.06% share, down 7.24% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.6%, recording a month-on-month decline of 22%.
