Continuing its commitment to affordability, budget supermarket Aldi UK has announced the biggest price reduction on its fruit and veg range this year.

More than 50 items, representing approximately 25% of its produce selection, have seen an average price drop of 7%.

This move comes on the heels of being named the Cheapest Supermarket of the Month by Which?, making Aldi a strong contender for budget-conscious shoppers seeking healthy options.

“This year we’re aiming to cut more prices than ever before – helping our customers access the lowest prices possible,” said Julie Ashfield, managing director of Aldi Buying.

“At Aldi we are committed to making healthy and varied diets affordable for all – with many customers often coming to us for our low prices but staying for the award-winning quality.”

The price cuts span a wide variety of popular items, including berries, grapes, tomatoes, apples, and ready-to-eat salads.

This aligns with recent research by Aldi revealing that the average UK adult only consumes their recommended five-a-day four times a week.

To address this shortfall, the supermarket has compiled a collection of recipes using various fruits and vegetables, available online, to inspire healthier eating habits.

Furthermore, Aldi’s commitment to affordability extends beyond its own pricing strategy.

In 2023, it invested an additional £1.3bn ($1.64m) with British suppliers, who provide more than 75% of the products sold in its stores.

This not only benefits budget-conscious shoppers but also supports the domestic agricultural industry.

By combining competitive pricing with support for local suppliers and readily available recipe inspiration, Aldi is striving to position itself as a go-to destination for affordable and healthy choices for all.
