SPAR Italy partner Aspiag Service has finished renovating its logistic centre in Udine, as part of efforts to better serve the Emilie-Romagna and the north-east parts of the country.
With an investment of €1.6m, the company has upgraded one of the three distribution centres (DCs).
The centre was initially built to manage 20-25 fresh product trucks in the receiving zone and 30-35 large delivery vehicles in the outbound areas.
Special shutters have been deployed for the cold chain logistics as a part of this renovation, which will help in maintaining constant, reliable temperatures in all the sections of the DC.
In addition to sustainability, the renovation has improved the working conditions for the 26 Aspiag employees and 80 affiliated logistics provider’s employees in the warehouse.
Aspiag service CEO Harald Antley said “We are investing in our local community’s future and highlighting our company’s ongoing development. We have been growing continuously for 20 years, both in terms of growing our distribution centres, our store numbers and our employees.

By GlobalData“We are really proud of unveiling this DC following its renovation, which not only improves productivity but as is an increasingly essential factor in our construction and renovation projects, has improved focus on sustainability.”
Last month, Aspiag Service introduced new retail management across its 560 DESPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR stores in the north-east and Emilia-Romagna regions.
The mobile app is integrated with warehouse management systems for various activities, including placing orders with the DC and managing returns.
The renovation is expected to improve the DC’s sustainability, efficiency and productivity.
