Coop Sweden has selected category management solutions from software and consultancy company JDA to allocate space and localise planograms.

The company has made this move in a bid to engage customers and enhance shopping experience across more than 800 of its grocery stores.

This deal complements the long-term partnership between both parties. The retailer is currently using JDA’s Advanced Warehouse Replenishment solution.

The category management solutions will support the retailer’s sustainability efforts and enhance product availability across its network.

As part of the deal, JDA will assist the grocery chain to create, manage, analyse, optimise and distribute detailed in-store planograms. This will help meet the localisation needs of stores and arrange store shelves according to shopper behaviours.

The software firm will also allow the retailer to reduce waste by offering improved and customised selections in stores.

JDA EMEA president Johan Reventberg said: “With JDA, Coop Sweden is well-positioned for growth as it targets shoppers’ habits and purchase history to deliver the right products on the right shelves in the right store.

“Coop has strategically prioritised waste reduction as part of its sustainability efforts, which is a high priority for grocers and consumers alike and will boost shopper loyalty as well.”

Coop Sweden is currently owned by 3.5 million members in 30 consumer associations in the country.

In July, UK-based retailer Wilko selected SaaS technology from JDA Software to drive its category management strategy.
