US-based department store chain Kohl’s has signed a strategic partnership with Authentic Brands Group (ABG) to add the Nine West lifestyle brand to its portfolio.
The department store chain will debut women’s apparel collection under the Nine West banner, as well as offer footwear, handbags and outerwear under the brand.
Kohl’s chief merchandising officer Doug Howe said: “We’re excited to bring Nine West, a brand synonymous with fashion and sophistication, to Kohl’s customers nationwide.
“We admire the role Nine West has played in shaping the footwear industry and its success in becoming one of the most recognised and desired brands among female consumers, particularly millennial customers.
“The addition of the Nine West brand to our women’s portfolio further illustrates our commitment to delivering relevant, sought-after brands that will continue to drive new customers to Kohl’s.”
As part of the deal, Kohl’s will offer Nine West shoes, handbags, outerwear and exclusive Nine West apparel across its stores nationwide, as well as on Kohls.com starting July 2019.

In a separate development, reports emerged that Kohl’s has cut 60 technology positions.
The company spokeswoman Jen Johnson was quoted by Milwaukee Business Journal as saying: “While it is very difficult to reduce positions, this decision was one we took very seriously and approached thoughtfully for our business and our teams.
“Kohl’s is in a position of financial strength. The reduction of positions is driven by the evolution of our technology infrastructure and operating model.”
Kohl’s currently operates more than 1,100 stores in 49 states of the US, as well as its online store, Kohls.com and Kohl’s mobile app.
