Asda will open 11 new stores in the greater London region over the next few months.

Of the 11 new stores, two of them in Deptford and Wealdstone will be high street stores and will focus on food to go, bakery and meal solutions. These two stores are claimed to offer a click and collect service.

Expected to be opened in July, both stores will be a trial of a new smaller format.

The Wealdstone store spread over an area of around 9,000ft2 will also feature a pizza counter and rotisserie, while the Deptford High Street store will be spread over an area of around 6,000ft2.

The company also plans to open 150 petrol stations and 1,000 click and collect sites by 2018.

Asda Store Development vice president Craig Bonnar said: "We’ve been clear about our strategic ambition to expand into London and the South East and customers tell us that a convenient and great value shopping experience is important to them.
