John Lewis plans to establish an offline presence in Australia with the opening of a shop-in-shop within six branches of department store Myer.

The new store is expected to open by Christmas this year at Myer's newly refurbished Warringah store in the outskirts of Sydney.

By next year, John Lewis plans to open its stores across various other cities in Australia including  Melbourne, Perth, Bondi, Chadstone, and Myer's flagship store in Sydney.

John Lewis' head of international development Katie Jordan said: “We're delighted to be expanding our international presence and bringing John Lewis to new countries around the world, both through physical collaborations and by expanding our online international delivery destinations.

"The new store is expected to open by Christmas this year."

“There is a real synergy between Myer's customer base and ours and we believe they are the perfect partner for our first Australian shop-in-shops.”

John Lewis stores will cover an area between 600f² and 850f² and will feature its own brand home and lifestyle products. The company plans to have 30 shop-in-shops worldwide.
