UK multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer Tesco has launched a new mobile payments app in order to provide customers with an easier payment method for in-store purchases.

The new Tesco Pay+ app replaces the retailer’s PayQwiq in 2015 and aims to ensure a convenient and rewarding shopping experience for customers who make payments using their smartphones.

Offering a simple and fast payment method at the checkout, the digital wallet will allow customers to automatically collect Clubcard points with a single swipe.

"We are confident that Tesco Pay+, with its fantastic capability, will continue to transform the shopping journey offering a little help to customers every time they shop in Tesco.”

The retailer noted that customers can use the app to link multiple payment cards and make payments up to £250.

Tesco Digital Wallet and Group payments director Mark Loch said: “How customers interact with their shopping experience, how they manage their money, and how they determine value, are developing all of the time.

“We are proud that we constantly invest in enhancing the shopping experience so that our customers receive a unique and exceptional service. Our digital wallet has proved to be hugely popular with our customers and we are confident that Tesco Pay+, with its fantastic capability, will continue to transform the shopping journey offering a little help to customers every time they shop in Tesco.”
