US-based speciality apparel retailer The Children’s Place has signed a development agreement with Gill Capital in Singapore to expand its presence in South-East Asia.
The Children’s Place is initially planning to open 25 locations in Indonesia before extending its footprint in the other countries covered under the agreement, which include Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
Talking about Gill Capital, The Children's Place president and CEO Jane Elfers said: “They have a proven track record of operating successful brands in South-East Asia.
“We are making significant strides in our international franchise business, and we remain focused on providing great fashion and value for children around the world.”
The Children's Place sells apparel, accessories, footwear and other items at retail and wholesale locations.
As of 29 April, the company operated 1,033 stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, in addition to an online store. It also had 156 international points of distribution operated by its six franchise partners in 18 countries.
Gill Capital also operates in Thailand and Indonesia under different business segments such as fashion, children’s speciality, confectionary, and food and beverage.
