TJX is set to open its initial Homesense store in the US next month to offer on-trend, quality home merchandise.

The company also plans to open four more stores by the end of this year.

To be opened at Shoppers World in Framingham, Massachusetts, the new store will complement its sister chain HomeGoods by offering expanded departments such as large-scale furniture, lighting and art.

The Homesense concept in the US will be different from stores with the same name in Europe or Canada.

Merchandise in the US will include oversized upholstery such as sectionals, sofas, futons and day beds, as well as leather furniture and expanded at-home workplace essentials, including desks, bookcases and filing cabinets.

"The new store will complement its sister chain HomeGoods by offering expanded departments such as large-scale furniture, lighting and art."

The store will also have game room items such as pool tables, garden storage and furniture covers; rugs up to 14ft-long; mounted art for gallery-style shopping; and a general store with toolkits and hardware.

HomeGoods and Homesense US president John Ricciuti said: "Just as our customers enjoy shopping both TJ Maxx and Marshalls, we are confident that loyal customers and new shoppers alike will be excited about shopping both Homesense and HomeGoods.

"As the US home market continues to grow, we are excited to bring consumers an expanded selection of quality merchandise at incredible prices, along with a new shopping experience in which they can discover and curate the home of their dreams."
