US-based consumer retail company Williams-Sonoma has launched four online company-owned websites in Canada for the first time.

The firm currently has 24 stores in Canada and its online channels generate more than 50% of its revenue.

The new sites feature mobile-based purchases, Canadian in-store products, upcoming products and localised content marketing that highlights national holidays and traditions.

“We are excited to offer our Canadian customers the convenience of online shopping, providing them with a complete multi-channel experience.”

The firm has launched its first international websites in Australia and the UK in 2013.

Several Williams-Sonoma’s brands, inclduing Pottery Barn, West Elm, PBteen, and Mark and Graham, are marketed through e-commerce websites, direct mail catalogues and retail stores.

Williams-Sonoma president and chief executive officer Laura Alber said: “Canada is an important market for us, and we are excited to offer our Canadian customers the convenience of online shopping, providing them with a complete multi-channel experience.”

As part of the new launch, new-to-market items include best-selling products from the US, including cutlery and cookware from Williams Sonoma; and furniture and decorative pieces from West Elm.

Currently operating in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK, Williams-Sonoma offers global shipping to its customers and has unaffiliated franchises operating stores in the Middle East, Philippines and South Korea, as well as stores and e-commerce websites in Mexico.
