Digital financial technology firm Wirecard is set to expand the e-commerce business of Switzerland-based mountaineering brand Mammut in the US.

As part of the collaboration, the payment services company will handle payment processing by enabling Mammut’s US customers to make online payments using credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard.

In addition, Wirecard is planning to expand the credit card payment options by introducing more payment methods in the future.

"Mammut has stood for optimum outdoor quality and pioneering innovation for more than 155 years and it is on this basis that we will continue to grow."

Mammut head of e-commerce Florian Held said: “Mammut has stood for optimum outdoor quality and pioneering innovation for more than 155 years and it is on this basis that we will continue to grow.

“With Wirecard as a payment partner, we now offer customers secure and efficient payment solutions around the world – this means that Wirecard plays a key role in our digitalization process.”

Mammut partnered with Wirecard in 2014 to handle multichannel payment processing of its e-commerce and POS business in various countries, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK.

The mountaineering brand also deployed Wirecard’s Fraud Prevention Suite (FPS), a risk management system designed to prevent fraud and ensure security for all payment methods.

Wirecard vice-president of sales consumer goods Christian Reindl said: “We are delighted to expand our successful collaboration with Mammut. We are focused on Mammut’s individual requirements and in this way have developed together on an international basis.

“Mammut aims to exploit the trends towards digitalization and globalisation, and we are able to support these efforts across the entire payment value-added chain.”

Established in 1862, Mammut offers a range of products, including hardware, shoes and clothing for mountaineering enthusiasts.
