US supermarket chain Albertsons Companies (Cos) has broadened the reach of its e-commerce platform for businesses, now encompassing more than 2,000 store locations.

The service is tailored to meet the specific needs of sectors such as small offices, K-12 schools [kindergarten to 12th grade], local government and community organisations, and residential programmes such as senior living facilities.

The platform provides a streamlined process for companies, regardless of size, to procure necessities such as food, supplies for breakrooms, and cleaning and paper products from their local grocery stores.

Albertsons Cos e-commerce senior vice-president Stephen Menaquale stated: “Albertsons Cos is well-positioned to meet the needs of business customers, so they can spend their time running the business, not errands.

“We saw an opportunity in the market to reach this important customer base and foster customer growth by leveraging our extensive store network and diverse product selection. E-commerce is a top priority for Albertsons Cos, and the enhancement of our business platform underscores its critical role."

Albertsons' business-oriented e-commerce platform features same-day delivery, flexible payment methods, specialised customer service and tax-exempt purchasing options online.

These offerings enhance the shopping experience for business clients without imposing minimum purchase requirements or additional online fees.

As of 22 February 2025, the company oversees a network of 2,270 retail food and drug outlets, which includes 1,728 in-store pharmacies.

The organisation's retail presence spans 34 US states and the District of Columbia, with operations conducted under more than 20 brand names.

The online service is now available via its banners, which include Albertsons, Acme, Safeway, Shaw's and Star Market.

In a financial update in April 2025, Albertsons announced net sales and other revenue reaching $18.80bn in Q4 of FY24, an increase from $18.34bn reported in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.
