Supermarket chain Aldi has recalled its Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets in the UK after the country's Food Standards Agency (FSA) identified the presence of undeclared egg.

The UK food safety regulator stated that this may pose a health risk to those with an egg allergy or egg intolerance.

The recall applies to Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets in a 278g pack size with a use-by date of 15 December 2025.

Aldi has removed the product from sale and issued a product recall.

The retailer has contacted relevant allergy support organisations to notify their members and has displayed point-of-sale notices in stores explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers on next steps.

The recall was issued as part of its allergy alert process, used when food products present a risk to consumers due to missing or incorrect allergen labelling.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product and have an egg allergy or intolerance are advised to return it to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

Aldi stated: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets because the product is labelled incorrectly and contains an undeclared allergen (egg).

“Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given. We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”

In September 2025, Aldi unveiled plans to invest £1.6bn ($2.17bn) in the UK with the aim of opening 80 new stores within the next two years.

The expansion strategy was part of the company’s goal to extend its footprint to 1,500 locations across the country, building on its current total of 1,060 outlets.
