E-commerce giant Amazon plans to introduce more than 1,000 new apprenticeships in the UK during 2025. The announcement was made ahead of the country's National Apprenticeship Week from 10 to 16 February.

The company’s apprenticeship programme, described as one of the top schemes by the UK's Department for Education, will provide opportunities across Amazon Web Services, Prime Video and Amazon Devices and Services.

The recruitment drive is currently active, offering positions in more than 40 distinct programmes. These include fields such as data science, cyber security, HR, marketing, engineering, health and safety, and warehouse operations.

The curriculum now integrates generative AI training to equip apprentices with future-ready skills. During a financial briefing with analysts last week, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy indicated that the company is projecting to allocate upwards of $100bn towards capital expenditures in 2025.

Newly introduced programmes will delve into creative industries production, data centre operations and facilities operations.

Since its inception in 2013, Amazon's Apprenticeship programme has created 7,000 apprenticeship roles in the UK. 2,000 individuals are currently active participants in one of the nation's most extensive apprenticeship offerings.

Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey stated: "Apprenticeships have been a big focus for Amazon for over a decade, and we're excited to continue creating opportunities for people to start and grow their careers through the announcement of 1,000 new UK apprenticeships in 2025.

"The Amazon Apprenticeship programme is perfect for people of all ages who are either taking their first step on the career ladder, or for those who want to pursue a new path. This is one of the many ways we continue to create opportunities for people inside and outside Amazon to learn new skills and gain new qualifications."

Amazon has invested £11m since 2021 to support 650 small and medium-sized enterprises, third-sector entities and public sector organisations — including the NHS — by sponsoring more than 1,000 apprenticeships.
