British supermarket chain Asda has opened nine new Express convenience stores across the UK.

The expansion aligns with the company’s goal to target high-footfall urban areas, neighbourhoods, and transport hubs.

Seven of the new sites are in London, at the former Arsenal FC club shop in Finsbury Park station, Deptford, Greenwich, Harringay, Limehouse Station, Tower Bridge and Whetstone.

Two additional stores have opened in Southampton and Stoke.

Each Express outlet stocks more than 3,000 branded and own-label items, including fresh, ambient and chilled groceries, as well as beers, wines and spirits.

The stores provide facilities such as Costa Coffee machines, ATMs, Amazon collection and return points, and delivery services via Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.

The new locations are also equipped with electronic shelf edge labels.

The retailer intends to open ten more Express sites before the end of 2025 and has a target of 500..

In October 2025, Asda opened a new Express convenience store in Castleford, West Yorkshire.

Located on Holywell Lane, the new store occupied a site that was previously a pub.

The store stocks more than 3,000 branded and own-label products.

Asda Express foodservice and fuel vice-president Joseph Sutton stated: We’re thrilled to be opening nine new Express stores this week, including seven in London – an area where we have traditionally had less of a presence in convenience.

“These openings are a key part of our strategy to bring Asda’s unbeatable value to more urban areas and residential communities across the UK.

“We know customers have looked forward to these stores opening for a long time, and we’re delighted to welcome them in and offer outstanding value across their favourite products.”
