Technology company Barron McCann has acquired a controlling interest in Retail247, a UK-based software specialist serving retailers and trade businesses.

Retail247, which develops cloud-based systems designed for the retail and trade sectors, works with brands including Reiss, Crew Clothing and Mint Velvet. Its client list also features Radley and Piglet in Bed.

Barron McCann managing director Scott Watson stated: “Retail247 is a natural fit for our wider service and solutions portfolio, and this acquisition represents a key step in our expansion strategy.

“We are continuing to enhance the overall value we deliver to our customers across the group as we continue with our mission to provide a unified approach to technology solutions.”

Retail247’s systems include product information management tool Origin and stock and order management platform Archean.

These will sit alongside Barron McCann’s existing software, such as Merret Pro for merchandise and warehouse management, and its charity point-of-sale and Gift Aid solutions.

The two businesses will continue to operate under their respective brands, with Retail247 supported by Barron McCann’s Derby-based infrastructure.

The combined group will provide managed IT services, hardware procurement, field engineering, and analytics and fulfilment software to clients across multiple sectors.

Retail247 founder and CEO Martin Schofield added: “Joining forces with Barron McCann brings together two forward-thinking organisations with a shared commitment to innovation and customer success.

“By combining our strengths, we’re accelerating the delivery of intelligent, scaleable solutions that help retailers adapt, evolve and thrive in a fast-paced, competitive landscape.”

Barron McCann, part of the wider Barron McCann group, reports combined revenues of $50m.

The business supports more than 21,000 customer sites across the UK, providing hardware procurement, managed IT services and supply chain management software to clients such as Papa Johns, Iceland and Vue Cinemas.
