Carrefour Belgium has chosen grocery retail technology solutions provider StrongPoint to streamline in-store picking to fulfil scheduled online orders.

The selection to implement StrongPoint’s proprietary Order Picking system for all scheduled deliveries follows a rigorous request for a proposal process.

The system will be integrated into Carrefour Belgium's operations with rollout reaching completion in 2025.

The retailer expects the new system to optimise operations, cut costs and provide more dependable customer service.

Carrefour Belgium digital and e-commerce director Jan Pollier stated: "We chose StrongPoint’s solution to fulfil our scheduled home delivery orders because their order picking system is responding very well to our needs when it comes to in-store grocery order picking. It’s purpose-built for handling grocery orders with exceptional speed and accuracy.

“StrongPoint’s deep expertise in grocery operations was clear throughout the process and gave us confidence in their ability to support our ambitions.”

StrongPoint's Order Picking system is a manual picking solution, with an average rate of 240 items picked per hour and a potential peak rate of 350 items per hour.

The cloud-based platform is engineered to optimise the productivity and precision of supermarket staff, enabling rapid deployment across retail locations.

Each store can be equipped in a day, and new personnel can be trained in ten minutes.

The system can also be tailored to any store's specific dimensions and layout.

StrongPoint CEO Jacob Tveraabak stated: "That such an esteemed and globally recognised brand has chosen StrongPoint’s Order Picking solution is a clear testament to the world-class nature of our technology. Its deployment outside our core markets further demonstrates the solution’s scalability and adaptability, and highlights our ability to support leading grocery retailers no matter where they operate."

In January 2025, Carrefour Belgium formed a partnership with VyOS Networks for network transformation for a scaleable and secure retail future.
