Lidl GB has set out a list of hundreds of target locations across the UK where it is seeking sites for future stores.

In its site requirements brochure, the supermarket said it is looking for freehold, leasehold or long-leasehold sites in “prominent locations with strong footfall and easy accessibility”.

The areas highlighted span a wide range of locations, including Aberdeen, London, and Windsor.

Lidl GB chief real estate officer Richard Taylor said: “All of our stores deliver more than just affordable products.

“Each one also brings quality jobs, opportunities for British suppliers to showcase the best of our home-grown produce and support to local good causes in the communities each one serves. In uncertain times, shoppers and communities can count on us.”

The brochure has been published shortly after Lidl GB said earlier this month that it plans to open more than 50 stores over the next 12 months, backed by a £600m ($811.2m) investment.

Alongside the store rollout, the company is progressing a new distribution centre in Leeds, which is expected to become operational next year.

Lidl said each new outlet is expected to create jobs in the surrounding area.

Entry-level hourly pay starts at £13.45 nationwide and rises to £14.45 with service. In London, starting pay is £14.80, increasing to £15.30 over time.

Earlier this year, Lidl also outlined plans to open 16 supermarkets in Northern Ireland by 2032, which would bring its total there to more than 60 stores.

That programme is expected to contribute around £475m a year to the Northern Ireland economy and expand Lidl’s regional workforce to 2,400 employees.
