Athletic apparel brand lululemon has appointed Ranju Das as its first chief AI and technology officer, effective from 2 September 2025.

Das will take charge of lululemon's technology division and propel the advancement and implementation of the company's forthcoming technology and AI strategy phase.

Das will report to CEO Calvin McDonald and will become part of the senior leadership team.

McDonald stated: “We see an exciting opportunity to further leverage AI and technology to advance our product innovation process, improve our agility and speed to market, and bring more engagement and personalisation to our guest experience.

“Ranju’s breadth of expertise and proven track record of leading large-scale technology and AI transformations make him the ideal individual to drive this work forward at lululemon and take our technology organisation to the next level.”

With more than two decades of experience, Das has experience in expanding global organisations and AI-first innovations.

His expertise spans the healthcare, financial tech and consumer technology sectors.

His tenure at Amazon lasted almost eight years, culminating in the role of general manager for Amazon AI Services, where he developed and expanded the company's AI capabilities.

His career also includes leadership at Barnes & Noble and the co-founding of several startups.

Das stated: “The opportunity to leverage technology and AI across the retail value chain to elevate how we serve our guests has never been greater. I look forward to working with Lululemon’s teams to advance the company’s data, technology and AI strategies to drive ongoing growth, operational excellence, best-in-class product and exceptional guest experiences.”

The brand also announced the departure of chief information officer Julie Averill, who will leave the company in September 2025 to explore new opportunities.

In July, lululemon expanded its global presence with the launch of its first store in Milan, Italy.
