British multinational retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has opened its 27% larger foodhall on the Upper Mall at Merry Hill in the West Midlands, combining food, fashion, beauty and home offerings under one roof.

M&S Merry Hill is among 12 M&S stores in the UK undergoing renewal in 2025. This is part of a £300m ($401.9m) investment that also includes 16 new store openings and nine extensions.

The new foodhall features direct access from the car park into a fresh produce segment with produce from more than 450 Select Farm partners in the region.

Customers can access a 26ft in-store bakery and coffee counter serving items such as M&S Collection sourdough bread and Chunked ‘n’ Loaded cookies, along with a barista-made coffees and iced drinks.

The store offers 450 new and upgraded M&S Food products for the summer 2025 season.

M&S has included its Remarkable Value range, which consists of more than 100 everyday essential items, price benchmarked against competitors, and has expanded its Bigger Pack Better Value range by a third to more than 100 products.

The transformation will continue with updates to the fashion, home and beauty sections and the introduction of a new circular lower mall M&S coffee shop, all set to be revealed in October during the store's 35th anniversary celebrations.

M&S Merry Hill store manager Tom Hawthorne stated:It feels amazing to finally reveal our showstopping new foodhall - we have been counting down the days!

“This is just stage one of our transformation but I know customers will absolutely love the changes – we have so many more products, so much more space and so many more exciting changes planned for our full launch in October.”

In July 2025, M&S announced that it is providing £1m ($1.3m) in funding annually through its Plan A Accelerator Fund for “industry-first innovation” projects to support its goal of reaching net zero by 2040.
