India’s Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL), the holding entity of Reliance Retail, has appointed former Flipkart executive Jeyandran Venugopal as its president and CEO.

Venugopal will work in close collaboration with Isha Ambani, executive director of RRVL.

Venugopal has more than 25 years of international leadership experience across retail, e-commerce, technology and business transformation.

He will be responsible for enhancing the brand's retail portfolio and accelerating the group’s omnichannel initiatives.

He will also focus on advancing technical and operational capabilities throughout Reliance Retail’s value chain.

Venugopal previously worked at Flipkart, the Walmart-owned e-commerce platform, where he held the position of chief product and technology officer.

He was credited with playing a key role in advancing Flipkart’s growth, improving customer engagement, broadening its ecosystem and consolidating its position in India’s online retail sector.

He has also served as chief product and technology officer at online fashion retailer Myntra and Jabong, acquired by Flipkart in 2016.

At Myntra and Jabong, Venugopal headed the product, engineering and data functions during a period of expansion and improving profitability.

Earlier in his career, Venugopal held senior roles at Yahoo and Amazon Web Services, where he focused on building and scaling global technology and commerce platforms.

In November 2025, Reliance Retail hired former Carrefour executive Guillaume de Colonges to lead its grocery business as the company gears up for a potential initial public offering in 2027/28.

In early December 2025, Reliance Retail finalised an internal reorganisation under which its fast-moving consumer goods brands business has been moved, as a going concern, into a newly formed company, New Reliance Consumer Products (New RCPL).

The company has also signed an exclusive distribution partnership with Germany-based cosnova Beauty to introduce the essence cosmetics brand in India.
