Samsung’s retail tech spin-off SOLUM has partnered with in-store fulfilment technology company Rynly to integrate fulfilment intelligence with execution inside stores.

Under the agreement, Rynly’s fulfilment orchestration platform will be linked with Solum’s Newton electronic shelf label (ESL) system to support shelf-edge “pick-by-light” workflows.

The combined set-up is aimed at grocery and convenience retailers dealing with rising order volumes across multiple fulfilment routes while trying to maintain “speed” and “accuracy”.

Rynly’s platform will handle order prioritisation, pick-path optimisation and task allocation.

Solum’s Newton ESLs will deliver real-time visual prompts at the shelf, using the Newton Protocol to enable fast label updates.

The ESL hardware also includes seven-colour LED indicators intended to provide immediate picking signals.

The companies said the integrated approach is designed to reduce time spent searching for items, minimise picking errors and improve productivity when processing several orders at once.

It is positioned for retailers seeking to increase in-store fulfilment capacity without adding operational complexity, including for click-and-collect, same-day delivery and third-party marketplace orders.

Solum and Rynly said they will present the integrated system at the Retail Technology Show, with plans to demonstrate its use in store-level omnichannel fulfilment.

Last month, Solum expanded its partnership with US pricing software company Competera across retail networks in Europe.

That widened deal combines Competera’s AI-based pricing platform with Solum’s Newton ESL system so retailers can connect price optimisation decisions with shelf-edge updates.
