Tesco, one of the UK's largest supermarket chains, has partnered with the British Red Cross to extend a helping hand to those affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Morocco and sudden flooding in Libya.

The supermarket giant has pledged a substantial £250,000 ($310,445) donation to the British Red Cross Disaster Fund, aimed at assisting disaster responses both within the UK and across the globe.

The £250,000 donation from the Tesco Group will prove instrumental in bolstering the British Red Cross Disaster Fund. This fund plays a pivotal role in enabling the British Red Cross to swiftly respond to various disasters, whether they occur within the United Kingdom or in different parts of the world.

This critical financial support will empower the charity to provide immediate aid to those impacted by the recent natural disasters in Morocco and Libya.

Ways for Tesco customers to contribute

In the coming days, Tesco customers throughout the UK will have multiple avenues to contribute to the relief efforts. Customers can simply send a text message to make a donation of £5, £10, or £15. This hassle-free option allows individuals to provide support with just a few taps on their phones.

Tesco customers will also have the option to make online donations through the official Tesco website, Tesco.com.

For those who prefer to utilise their Clubcard vouchers, the Clubcard app will facilitate contributions, making it convenient for patrons to join the cause.

As Tesco and the British Red Cross unite their efforts, the hope is to provide critical aid to those affected by these tragic events, offering a lifeline to those who need it most in Morocco and Libya.

Luxury goods, digitalization, and personalization identified as key drivers of the duty-free retail market

Per GlobalData, the global duty-free market retailing market was valued at $49 billion in 2022, its highest level ever as it bounced back from the pandemic impact, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 28% during the period 2020-2026, driven by government initiatives, rising passenger numbers, major global events (for instance global sporting tournaments) and the renewed popularity of cruise trips. Infrastructure investments will also play an important role, particularly airport expansion and space refurbishment, and investments in arrivals duty-free formats.
