Walmart has taken its membership programme international for the first time, launching Walmart+ in Canada after operating it exclusively in the US since its domestic debut.

The programme is priced at C$8.97 ($6.46) per month or C$89 annually – the same annual rate as the Delivery Pass scheme it replaces, which Walmart had offered in Canada since 2023.

Existing Delivery Pass subscribers will be migrated to Walmart+ automatically.

The Canadian offering bundles same-day delivery from the store on orders above C$35, free shipping with no minimum order threshold via Walmart's Canadian website and app, and a Crave Standard with Ads streaming subscription at no extra charge.

Walmart said this makes it the only membership programme to include Crave as an embedded benefit.

Further perks include Express Delivery within two hours at a reduced member rate, complimentary in-store pickup, and the option to add items to a scheduled order up to three hours before the chosen pickup or delivery window.

Walmart Canada membership head Catherine Theberge-Conner said: “Walmart+ is a game-changer for Canadians, especially the busy families who rely on our everyday low prices.

“With Walmart+, Canadians can access a unique membership offering that combines unlimited grocery and general merchandise delivery with benefits beyond retail – all for only $89 per year. Canadians are going to love the level of convenience, assortment and value they get with Walmart+, with more to come.”

In the US, Walmart has begun integrating restaurant delivery into its Express Delivery service, starting with Subway.

Customers at participating locations can now order freshly prepared Subway meals through the Walmart app or website for delivery in 30 minutes or less, either as a standalone order or alongside groceries and other items.

The company described the partnership as its first restaurant integration within Express Delivery.
