August 2021 has seen an increase of 3.39% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 74.39% in August 2021, a 30.66% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 11.73% in August 2021, marking a 125.56% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.55% in August 2021, an 8.03% rise from July 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 30.27% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Alibaba Group Holding posted 464 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 33.72% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 395 jobs and a 25.05% drop. Walmart with 197 IT jobs and JD with 185 jobs, recorded a 2714.29% rise and a 31.21% rise, respectively, while Coupang recorded a 288.57% increase with 136 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
China commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 43.47% share in August 2021, a 39.52% increase over July 2021. India featured next with a 32.2% share, up 17.51% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 8.03% share, a growth of 31.13% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.65%, up by 32.83% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.96% share, registered a growth of 45.78% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.89% share, up 25.99% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.5%, recording a month-on-month growth of 44.44%.
