Australia retail industry registered a 1.6% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 1.37% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.14% share in June 2021, recording decrease of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.21% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia retail industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48.21% in June 2021, a 12.5% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 22.32% share, an increase of 19.05% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.29%, registering a 77.78% rise from May 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 8.93%, up 150% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Australia IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 40.91% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia retail industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
Coles Group posted 29 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 107.14% over the previous month, followed by Groupon with 20 jobs and a 150% growth. Woolworths Group with 20 IT jobs and Amazon with 19 jobs, recorded a 5.26% growth and a 20.83% decline, respectively, while Harvey Norman Holdings recorded a 400% an increase with 5 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.96%, up by 2.74% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.89% share, a growth of 70.59% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.25% share, up 250% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.89%, recording a month-on-month an flat growth.
