China retail industry IT recruitment activity declines 0.1% in July 2021

China retail industry registered a 0.1% decline in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.68% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.95% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 1.06% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China retail industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 85.92% in July 2021, a 0.55% drop over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 6.44% share, decline of 15.63% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 4.77%, registering a 9.09% decline from June 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 1.43%, up 200% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in China IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 0.98% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China retail industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

Alibaba Group Holding posted 236 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 15.12% over the previous month, followed by JD with 134 jobs and a 4.96% drop. Amazon with 29 IT jobs and eBay with 8 jobs, recorded a 42% drop and a 33.33% increase, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a 12.5% decline with 7 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.09%, down by 5.28% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 13.13% share, a decline of 14.06% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.44% share, up 58.82% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 3.34%, recording a month-on-month increase of 1300%.
