China’s retail industry registered a 6.8% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.97% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.08% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.73% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 89.49% in August 2021, registering a 41.09% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 5.05% share, an increase of 31.03% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 3.32%, registering a 25% rise from July 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 1.06%, up 14.29% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 41.65% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Alibaba Group Holding posted 451 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 30.72% over the previous month, followed by JD with 185 jobs and a 31.21% growth. adidas with 39 IT jobs and Amazon with 37 jobs, recorded an 1850% flat growth and a 12.12% flat growth, respectively, while Coupang recorded a flat growth with 26 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.27%, up by 39.14% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.03% share, registered an increase of 22.83% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.64% share, up 91.18% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 3.06%, recording a month-on-month increase of 35.29%.
