July 2021 has seen an increase of 7.84% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.56% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 0.72% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 59.38% in July 2021, a 27.08% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 16.29% in July 2021, marking a 4.71% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 12.9% in July 2021, a 6.02% growth from June 2021.

Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 18.39% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during July 2021 over previous month.
J Sainsbury posted 270 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 15.36% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 147 jobs and an 18.78% drop. Inter IKEA Holding with 96 IT jobs and Zalando with 61 jobs, recorded a 5.49% growth and a 29.89% drop, respectively, while Ocado Group recorded a 49.25% decline with 34 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 40.44% share in July 2021, a 19.05% decline over June 2021. Germany featured next with a 16.19% share, down 26.25% over the previous month. France recorded a 6.22% share, a growth of 33.33% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.41%, down by 25.03% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.67% share, a decline of 10.42% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.74% share, up 2.99% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.18%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
