Europe witnessed a 2.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the retail industry in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
June 2021 has seen an increase of 6.86% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.81% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering decrease of 0.72% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 63.05% in June 2021, a 26.21% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.52% in June 2021, marking a 50.96% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.94% in June 2021, a 13.01% drop from May 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 4.48% in June 2021, a flat growth over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 57.85% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during June 2021 over previous month.
J Sainsbury posted 196 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a an increase of 201.54% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 161 jobs and a 1.26% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 90 IT jobs and Zalando with 84 jobs, recorded a 25% growth and a 2.33% drop, respectively, while Farfetch recorded a flat growth with 72 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 34.19% share in June 2021, a 56.92% rise over May 2021. Germany featured next with an 18.95% share, flat growth over the previous month. Sweden recorded a 7.32% share, a growth of 7.59% compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.42%, up by 17.15% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.88% share, a growth of 48.48% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.61% share, up 36.21% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.09%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
