Sales and Related Occupations drive corporate governance-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 23%, emerged as the top corporate governance-related job roles within the retail industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 53% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 16% in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 14% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent corporate governance roles include Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations with an 11% share in Q4 2023, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in retail industry accounted for 60% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Walmart, Macy's, Walgreens Boots Alliance, National Vision, and Sprouts Farmers Market. Together they accounted for a combined share of 60% of all corporate governance-related new jobs in the retail industry.

Walmart posted 1,978 corporate governance-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Macy's 1,609 jobs, Walgreens Boots Alliance 1,597 jobs, National Vision 1,519 jobs, and Sprouts Farmers Market 1,100 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 82.33% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of corporate governance-related new job postings in the retail industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 82.33% followed by the UK (6.91%) and Canada (3.01%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 83.40% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
