Office and Administrative Support Occupations drive retail industry hiring activity

Of the industry's total hiring activity, the highest number of new job postings were for Office and Administrative Support Occupations, which accounted for 19% of the total new job postings in Q3 2023 and were up by 26% year-on-year. Second highest were Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Occupations, which accounted for 10% and drop by 17% year-on-year, and third highest were Sales and Related Occupations, which were 24% of the new job postings and 28% lower year-on-year.

Top five companies in retail industry accounted for 84% of hiring activity

The highest number of jobs were posted by REWE Group with 21,886, followed by Inter IKEA with 2,625, while the highest increase was at Metro at 42%.
