Sales and Related Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity
Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 14%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the retail industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 26% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 51% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social responsibility roles include Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in retail industry accounted for 34% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Kroger, Tesco, Walmart, Woolworths Group, and TJX. Together they accounted for a combined share of 34% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the retail industry.
Kroger posted 13,217 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Tesco 10,446 jobs, Walmart 10,366 jobs, Woolworths Group 8,900 jobs, and TJX 8,779 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 67.26% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the retail industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 67.26% followed by the UK (12.19%) and Canada (10.24%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 65.14% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
