July 2021 has seen an increase of 17% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 12.59% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 1.53% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 74.68% in July 2021, a 31.11% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 8.86% in July 2021, marking a 12.5% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.59% in July 2021, a 500% growth from June 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 24.07% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s retail industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 32 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 5.88% over the previous month, followed by Shoprite Holdings with 16 jobs and a 45.45% growth. The Foschini Group with 14 IT jobs and Mr. Price Group with 3 jobs, recorded a 366.67% growth and a 40% drop, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a 100% increase with 2 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s retail industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 50.63% share in July 2021, a 33.33% rise over June 2021. Israel featured next with a 22.78% share, flat growth over the previous month. Jordan recorded a 10.13% share, a growth of 14.29% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.23%, up by 4.55% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 21.52% share, a growth of 30.77% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 20.25% share, up 166.67% over June 2021.
