August 2021 has seen an increase of 6.95% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 76.28% in August 2021, a 6.63% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 7.13% in August 2021, marking an 11.16% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 5.92% in August 2021, a 24.39% rise from July 2021.

Top five retail companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 1.19% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s retail industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 3,494 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a decline of 2.46% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 384 jobs and a 13.51% drop. CVS Health with 219 IT jobs and Lowe’s Companies with 165 jobs, recorded a 14.66% rise and a 43.48% rise, respectively, while Chewy recorded a 14.17% increase with 137 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s retail industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 95.49% share in August 2021, a 3.4% increase over July 2021. Canada featured next with a 3.93% share, up 6.28% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.53% share, a drop of 5.88% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.21%, up by 4.83% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 26.24% share, registered a growth of 0.64% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 21.08% share, up 2.83% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.46%, recording a month-on-month growth of 40%.
