July 2021 has seen an increase of 14.49% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.73% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 0.92% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 50.5% in July 2021, a 28.17% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20.79% in July 2021, marking a 16.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 14.85% in July 2021, a 7.14% growth from June 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 19.42% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 42 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 25% over the previous month, followed by Walgreens Boots Alliance with 16 jobs and a 300% growth. Magazine Luiza with 9 IT jobs and CarrefourSA with 8 jobs, recorded a 64% decline and a 60% increase, respectively, while Lojas Americanas recorded a 38.46% decline with 8 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 42.57% share in July 2021, a 48.81% decline over June 2021. Jamaica featured next with a 17.82% share, up 350% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 13.86% share, a growth of 133.33% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.42%, down by 28.05% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.74% share, a growth of 8.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.84% share, up 77.78% over June 2021.
