The US retail industry registered a 4.5% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 4.7% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.42% share in June 2021, recording decrease of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.23% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US retail industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 80.16% in June 2021, a 1.91% drop over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 5.67% share, decline of 13.66% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.55%, registering a 5.82% rise from May 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 4.2%, down 23.08% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in the US IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 4.1% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US retail industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
Amazon posted 3,004 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 8.02% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 416 jobs and a 4.79% growth. CVS Health with 171 IT jobs and Chewy with 126 jobs, recorded a 1.79% growth and a 13.51% increase, respectively, while J Sainsbury recorded a 98.39% an increase with 123 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.26%, down by 25.88% from May 2021. Entry Level positions with a 23.24% share, a growth of 84.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 22.06% share, up 24.03% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.44%, recording a month-on-month an increase of 155.56%.
