The US’s retail industry registered a 3.1% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 7% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.62% share in August 2021, recording a flat growth over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 76.25% in August 2021, registering a 6.37% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 7.26% share, a decrease of 10.68% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.84%, registering a 26.32% rise from July 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 5.28%, up 21.6% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 1.61% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Amazon posted 3,324 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 2.92% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 377 jobs and a 14.51% drop. CVS Health with 219 IT jobs and Lowe’s Companies with 165 jobs, recorded a 14.66% flat growth and a 43.48% flat growth, respectively, while Chewy recorded an increase of 14.17% with 137 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.02%, up by 4.54% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 26.08% share, registered an increase of 0.87% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 21.44% share, up 3.35% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.47%, recording a month-on-month increase of 35%.
