Total retail industry M&A deals in November 2019 worth $1.2bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 94.6% over the previous month and a drop of 74.6% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $4.72bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $821.87m. At the country level, Sweden topped the list in terms of deal value at $432.7m.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for retail industry M&A deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in November 2019 was the US with 17 deals, followed by Japan with ten and Canada with five.

In 2019, as of the end of November 2019, retail M&A deals worth $54.66bn were announced globally, marking a decrease of 7.4% year on year.

The combined value of the top five retail M&A deals stood at $904.1m, against the overall value of $1.2bn recorded for the month.

2) The $225m acquisition of Familia by Tjx Companies

3) Good Set Investments’ $109.14m acquisition of Xin Yunlian Investment

4) The $75m asset transaction with by HGreg.com

5) Kohnan Shoji’s asset transaction with Doit for $62.27m.
