The value marked an increase of 281.1% over the previous quarter and a rise of 37.02% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $1.76bn.
The US held a 14.01% share of the global retail industry M&A deal value that totalled $17.22bn in Q3 2019.
In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 70 deals during Q3 2019, marking a flat growth over the previous quarter and a drop of 1.4% over the last four-quarter average.

The top five retail industry M&A deals accounted for 83.2% of the overall value during Q3 2019.
The combined value of the top five retail M&A deals stood at $2.01bn, against the overall value of $2.41bn recorded for the month.
The top five retail industry deals of Q3 2019 tracked by GlobalData were:
1) Liberty Tax’s $750.37m acquisition of Vitamin Shoppe
2) The $750m acquisition of Jetro Restaurant Depot by Fomento Economico Mexicano SAB de CV
3) Etsy’s $275m acquisition of Reverb.com
4) The $132.9m asset transaction with Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores by Liberty Tax
5) Le Tote’s acquisition of Lord & Taylor for $100m.
