US-based company Amazon’s IT hiring increased 0.5% in December 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 4.82% in December 2020 when compared with November 2020.

IT jobs claimed a 22.37% share in the company’s total hiring activity in December 2020, and recorded a 1.69% growth over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Amazon IT hiring in December 2020

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Amazon, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 79.67% in December 2020, and a 4.99% growth over November 2020, while Computer Support Specialists claimed a share of 12.02% in December 2020, and registered a 179.31% increase. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.56% in December 2020, a 1.32% drop from November 2020.

North America drives IT hiring at Amazon

North America emerged as the leading region in the global retail IT hiring activity in December 2020 with a 83.31% share, which marked a 15.77% growth over the previous month.

Asia-Pacific stood next with 10.01%, registering a 1.5% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with a 5.27% share and a 19.32% drop over November 2020.

In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.96% and a month-on-month increase of 44.44%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.45%, registering a 100% rise over the previous month.

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 81.31% share in December 2020, a 15.37% growth over November 2020. India featured next with a 8.61% share, a flat growth over the previous month. Canada recorded a 1.63% share, an increase of 22.22% compared with November 2020.

Junior Level jobs lead Amazon IT hiring activity in December 2020

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.41%, registering a flat growth from November 2020. Entry Level positions with a 35.91% share, recorded a growth of 57.14% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.69% share, down 13.54% over November 2020.
