US-based company Amazon’s IT hiring declined 11.0% in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 13.17% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs claimed a 31.18% share in the company’s total hiring activity in August 2022, and recorded a 1.5% growth over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Amazon IT hiring in August 2022
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Amazon, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 82.83% in August 2022, and a 16.31% drop over July 2022, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 8.57% in August 2022, and registered a decline of 23.97%. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 4.1% in August 2022, a 6.82% rise from July 2022.
North America drives IT hiring at Amazon
North America emerged as the leading region in the global retail IT hiring activity in August 2022 with an 88% share, which marked a 7.6% rise over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 5.55%, registering a 72.12% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 4.47% share and a 65.24% drop over July 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 1.05% and a month-on-month decline of 38.98%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.93%, registering a 55.56% drop over the previous month.
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with an 86.7% share in August 2022, an 18.22% growth over July 2022. China featured next with a 1.66% share, down 9.52% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 1.54% share, a decline of 62.68% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level jobs lead Amazon IT hiring activity in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 47.63%, down by 13.32% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 34.59% share, a decline of 6.88% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 17.69% share, down 32.48% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.09%, recording a month-on-month increase of 50%.
