
US-based company Amazon’s IT hiring declined 2.8% in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 4.61% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs claimed a 36.5% share in the company’s total hiring activity in December 2021, and recorded a 1.35% growth over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Amazon IT hiring in December 2021
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Amazon, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 84.77% in December 2021, and an 18.95% drop over November 2021, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 7.09% in December 2021, and registered growth of 11.74%. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 3.47% in December 2021, a 14.66% drop from November 2021.
North America drives IT hiring at Amazon
North America emerged as the leading region in the global retail IT hiring activity in December 2021 with a 70.12% share, which marked a 23.24% drop over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 17.33%, registering a 0.73% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 9.92% share and a 9.34% drop over November 2021.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 1.47% and a month-on-month increase of 13.11%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.15%, registering a 15.63% drop over the previous month.
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 64.63% share in December 2021, a 22.46% decline over November 2021. India featured next with a 12.14% share, up 9.4% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 5.09% share, a decline of 30.32% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level jobs lead Amazon IT hiring activity in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.7%, down by 9.53% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 34.48% share, a decline of 27.53% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 15.65% share, down 21.14% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.17%, recording a month-on-month increase of 166.67%.
