US-based company Amazon’s IT hiring rose 5.9% in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The company’s overall hiring activity increased by 7.51% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.
IT jobs claimed a 36.49% share in the company’s total hiring activity in January 2022, and recorded a 0.16% growth over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Amazon IT hiring in January 2022
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Amazon, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 87.62% in January 2022, and a 42.91% rise over December 2022, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 5.29% in January 2022, and registered growth of 6.16%. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 3.74% in January 2022, a 35.35% rise from December 2022.
North America drives IT hiring at Amazon
North America emerged as the leading region in the global retail IT hiring activity in January 2022 with a 69.14% share, which marked a 35.93% rise over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 18.21%, registering a 50.93% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with a 9.4% share and a 24.86% rise over December 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 2% and a month-on-month increase of 104.29%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.26%, registering a 55.17% rise over the previous month.
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 63.29% share in January 2022, a 34.11% growth over December 2022. India featured next with a 13.03% share, up 53.45% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 5.56% share, an increase of 63.11% compared with December 2022.
Junior Level jobs lead Amazon IT hiring activity in January 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 47.5%, up by 33.73% from December 2022. Entry Level positions with a 33.27% share, a growth of 32.68% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 19.14% share, up 66.18% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.08%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
